Female students pursuing STEM education at a San Francisco-based institution, from high school through graduate school, are eligible to apply.

Eligible applicants may be at any stage of their STEM education, including high school, undergraduate, graduate, PhD, and postdoctoral training, provided they are currently affiliated with an eligible San Francisco-based institution.

No. Applications are open to all eligible students, irrespective of AWIS membership status.

AWIS-SF will award two scholarships of $500 each for the 2026 scholarship cycle.

Applicants must currently attend a school, college, university, or other eligible educational institution based in San Francisco.

The applicant’s school, college, university, or research/educational institution must be physically based within the City and County of San Francisco. Institutions located elsewhere in the broader Bay Area are not eligible for this scholarship cycle.

Applicants must be pursuing education in a STEM field—science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.

Applications will be accepted from September 10 through October 10, 2026.

Applications must be submitted through the official AWIS-SF Scholarship application form available on this page during the application period.

Applicants will be asked to provide basic academic information, their most recent transcript, GPA, a current resume or CV, and brief responses about their goals, financial need, and STEM or community involvement.

Yes. Scholarship consideration takes into account both merit and financial need, along with the applicant’s academic accomplishments, STEM engagement, and broader community involvement.

No. Please complete all required fields and upload all required materials before submitting your application. Applications cannot be edited after submission.

Selected recipients will be notified after the application review and selection process is completed. Recognition of the 2026 scholarship recipients is planned in connection with the AWIS-NCC Gala in November.
